How it all got started: Patchwork Woo has been a long time aspiration for Wendy Koons, owner and designer. She has always had a creative side and a passion for paints and fabrics. Wendy began designing jewelry for herself to be fun and fashionable for work as an accountant and then for play as a mother. She creates her own unique beads by hand painting wood beads, twisting batik fabrics and rolling decorative paper. Each bead was like a patch in a quilt. And, when combined together, they became a wonderful piece of wearable art. The result was the original “Woodstock” necklace. The sky was the limit and she was addicted. And, even the name “Patchwork Woo” emerged. (Woo being a nickname Wendy acquired in highschool). This new found interest in hand crafted jewelry design was a creative way for Wendy to express herself. (As we all know, accounting is not known to nurture one’s creative side). Wendy soon realized that whether she was dressing up or dressing down, her pieces were versatile for any occasion. Now, she constantly researches beading techniques and fashion trends, explores new design ideas, looks at color combinations, and discovers new materials to use in her designs. Rest assured that under her direction, Patchwork Woo will continue to offer "fun flair for every wear." We hope you find something you love! |
